Today, technology has evolved many different ways of communicating. Various applications such as Skype, email, mobile phones and social media are an integral part of our work life.
Despite these applications, I think face-to-face interaction is the best way to communicate. As a team leader, I often call and email everyone, but when I personally meet with them, I have the best relationship with my clients. This concept has the same role in the commercial industry. Face-to-face interaction with customers, employees and customers is critical to your success.
Here are some of the benefits of face-to-face communication:
1. Body language: from
Body language James Borg's authors say that human communication includes 93% of body language and paralinguistic clues, with only 7% of words. Our body language is louder than words. Therefore, you can better understand the feelings of candidates or customers communicating face to face, rather than through other forms of communication.
2. Value: from
For many business organizations, travel and conference budgets were first cut during the recession. However, travel to a meeting with a client or candidate indicates that they deserve you to spend time and money, and vice versa. Therefore, you can get better value through face-to-face communication. You will receive 100% attention and ensure that your information is heard.
3. Establish relationships: from
In a survey of 760 corporate executives, 84% prefer face-to-face communication. Eighty-five percent of corporate executives say their reason is to build stronger, more meaningful business relationships. Respondents also said that face-to-face meetings are best suited for persuasion [91%], leadership [87%] and participation [86%].
4. Misunderstanding: from
Sometimes, if an email is misunderstood by another party or considered rude by the other party, it will affect your relationship with the customer. On the other hand, face-to-face communication minimizes the risk of miscommunication compared to email or phone. If there is any misunderstanding, you can easily find it at that moment.
While face-to-face interaction is the preferred method of communication, the technical age and other forms of communication allow us to save money and time, and we are no longer limited to locations, which in turn reduces our carbon footprint and increases productivity.
