If you have not yet started the CPSP sales training and certification course, I highly recommend that you start as soon as possible. With the end of 2012 [and the Maya calendar's interpretation of the end of the world proved to be wrong], now is a good time to start the program.
I posted a blog after completing Week 1 and Week 2 in the past and want to share my overall thoughts because I am close to 50% of the certification process.
Time commitment
I am very busy. In fact very busy.
I not only have my own business, but also a husband, two fathers, volunteer firefighters, and my fire department vice president, active in my community, writers, sons, brothers, friends and musicians. I spent most of my days falling asleep while ending some things and having some unfinished items. [Since I started using structured morning routines, this list is now much smaller!]
When I considered starting CPSP sales training and certification, my first reaction was "When do I have time to provide the training required?"
Then after 21 days, I can confidently say that it takes 15 minutes for the certification exercise every day, which is very worthwhile. The lessons learned not only made me more focused, but also released hours of time each day after I implemented the course.
Time commitments are of course unfounded.
Main focus
I am certainly not a CPSP expert [I didn't even pass the release certification for this article], but I am sure I have the ability to share the main focus of the certification I think. Unlike many other training programs I have experienced, the field of CPSP is well integrated. Each region supports other regions, and all areas have been improved after improvements in one focus area.
Essentially, the main areas of focus for CPSP sales training and certification courses are your goals, your way of thinking, your actions and your role model. The first three areas are not surprising, but the last area is your character model.
I have always believed in finding an example and learning him or her as much as possible. I have several role models; there is at least one in every field of my life. If I want to improve in the realm of life or learn new skills, I will find someone who is an expert in the field, or who has mastered specific skills and understands my understanding of them.
My example saves me a lot of time because I can understand what mistakes they make when they succeed and which strategies are useful to them. Although no one is responsible for my success or failure, my role model is critical to my success. Interestingly, I have never seen any of my role models, and I will probably never!
I have already had this "role" role model in just a few weeks, and some are very important to me. It is important to have an example. When I learned that the role model is part of the CPSP certification process, I am happy to re-examine the value of having an example in my life.
