Type of computer crime

As technology advances, criminals have found new ways and means of crime. One such method is to use computers and other related equipment for criminal purposes.

There are different types of computer crime and multiple ways to classify them. People can classify computer crimes based on who committed the crime or split the crime based on the motive, or they can divide the crime according to the way the crime is committed.

The following mentions several important types of cybercrime based on the role of computers in crime.

1. Computers are a collateral condition for other crimes: such crimes do not require the use of a computer for crime. However, using a computer at the time of a crime increases the efficiency of the crime, making it difficult to identify and detect. In this type of crime, computers can help crimes happen faster and allow more information to be processed in the shortest possible time. Some examples of such crimes include money laundering, illegal banking transactions, processing and distributing pornographic information, and encrypting or deleting data files and criminal records.

2. Computers related to crime rates: These crimes are only committed due to the existence of a computer. These types of crimes occur as a result of advances in modern technology and the widespread use of computers. Some examples include software piracy, copyright infringement of computer programs, the manufacture of counterfeit computer devices and other peripherals, such as models and hard drives, and the sale of original computer equipment, peripherals and programs at much lower prices in the black market.
