We are fortunate to be able to live in an era where everyone has the ability to get any knowledge they want. The digital society in which we live provides us with the opportunity that our ancestors dreamed of. We should not take this privilege for granted.
In the less distant past of the 1950s, people who wanted to research ideas, products, or anything else had to go to the library, where they could look up the information in the books. Not everyone has the same access to the book and the information it contains. In the US, if your skin is black, you can't use the same library as white skin. If a dark-skinned person is allowed to enter the library, it is likely to store outdated books, and those libraries used by white-skinned people have been discarded.
In the digital society we live in today, the color of the skin does not determine your access to information. Technology brings us powerful tools like the Internet, where we can find information on almost any topic.
Our digital society is not only evolving over time, just as people of different races accept it over time. Accepting people with different skin colors, different accents and different perspectives does not evolve into a fair and equal status one day. Just as today's digital society is meaningless compared to the one that our great-grandson will live.
Accessing the Internet allows us to research what we plan to buy and where we plan to visit. With this ability, we become informed consumers who know what they want from the product and they know what each manufacturer is committed to.
We are able to compare the prices of insurance, home appliances, entertainment, clothing and more. We can now buy items online without leaving home. We have got rid of the restrictions on store opening hours and regional sales. Americans can buy products from Germans without leaving home.
Because we live in our children's digital society can understand anything that they are interested in. When they ask you what the dinosaurs are eating, you can check them out and tell them the answer. Because people will become smarter in the future, and technology will only improve.
